PE

Children have a PE lesson and a 30 minute swimming lesson each week taught by qualified and experienced sports coaches.  Throughout the year, children cover a range of topics including football, hockey, gymnastics, dance and athletics, working within the National Curriculum Framework.

Alongside weekly PE lessons, we enhance the curriculum with regular additional workshops throughout the year including skipping workshops, hula hooping and one off dance workshops.

Children in years 3 and 4 take part in the North Northumberland sports competitions and festivals, competing against other schools in golf, tag rugby and gymnastics to name a few.  Each year in the summer term, the whole school participates in our annual sports day.

Physical activity is not limited to PE lessons.  Our children are active and we take advantage of this by engaging in an active curriculum.  We use Tag Tiv 8 to support teaching in maths and literacy which children thoroughly enjoy and benefit from.  Our outdoor area and field allow children to be active during break times and we have a wide range of equipment for them to use.

In Year 4, children are able to attend our residential to Kielder with other local schools where they take part in adventurous activites such as bell boating, climbing and abseiling.  This is a great opportunity and one which the children develop confidence from.
