We set out on the 11th day of the 11th month to pay our respects with a two minutes silence at the village war memorial. On our way we visited the poppies at the Village Hall on the village green. The sky was so blue.

We then walked over to the churchyard and checked on the church clock. It was nearly eleven o’clock so we headed to the special place where we stood quietly when the chimes of the church bell had chimed eleven times.

We had our tiny crosses with woven poppies to put in the ground near the stone memorial and then had a few minutes to sing our song “Where have all the Flowers Gone ?“. We all agreed it was a special and important thing to do and we all played our part in the small service beautifully.
